The gate operator scans the driver's licence and vehicle disc on a rugged Newland handheld; Ephoro decrypts and validates the licence, allocates the truck to a bay, captures declared items and a cargo photo, and streams it all live to the control room. It runs the same way for a distribution yard or a business park, offline-first and POPIA-ready.

Every NBS application signs in through Orbit: one account, hashed credentials, roles per person and per organisation, and a shared session across the suite. Ephoro is hosted by NBS and delivered as a subscription. Updates, backups, monitoring and support are part of the service, and it works from any modern browser or the NBS app where one is provided.
Ephoro is built around Newland rugged handhelds with 2D imagers that read the SA licence and disc reliably. Add a kiosk for visitor self-declaration and UHF RFID readers for tagged fleet vehicles. Hardware is supplied on rental with support and replacement cover, so it stays current and stays ours to maintain.
